Why people choose epoxy
- Lower cost per square foot than most polyaspartic systems
- Seals the concrete so dust, oil and salt stop soaking in
- Brightens the garage, since a light floor reflects a lot of light
- Available in solid colours, with or without decorative flakes
Professional epoxy vs DIY kits
Hardware-store epoxy kits are thin, water-based coatings applied over etched concrete. They often lift where hot tires sit, a problem called hot tire pickup. A professional system uses thicker, 100% solids epoxy over diamond-ground concrete, and is usually finished with a tougher topcoat.
Epoxy garage floor cost in Kelowna
Basic epoxy typically runs about $3–$5 per square foot, standard systems about $5–$9, and a double garage often lands in the $2,400–$7,200 range depending on the system and prep (HomeStars garage floor coatings cost guide). These are general ranges, not quotes.
Epoxy or polyaspartic?
Epoxy is a good choice when budget matters most and the garage doesn't get much direct sun. If you want a one-day install or a floor that won't yellow, a polyaspartic flake floor is usually worth the extra cost.
Common questions
How long does an epoxy floor take?
Usually two to three days including prep and coats, plus extra cure time before parking. We give you the exact schedule when we quote.
Will epoxy yellow?
Most epoxies amber over time with UV exposure. A UV-stable topcoat prevents it.
Can you coat over an old peeling floor?
The old coating usually has to be ground off first so the new one can bond to bare concrete.
