Basement & Shop Floor Coatings in Kelowna

The same coatings that protect a garage work on any concrete floor: basements, workshops, laundry rooms, mudrooms and covered patios. Here's what to know before you coat one.

Installer diamond grinding a concrete floor before coating

Common spaces we coat

  • Basements: a clean, dry-feeling floor that's easy to mop
  • Workshops: resists oil, solvents and dropped tools
  • Laundry and mudrooms: handles water and boots
  • Covered patios and steps: UV-stable coatings with extra grip

Check for moisture first

Basement slabs can push moisture up from below. Coating over a damp slab is the most common reason basement floors bubble or peel. A good installer tests the concrete first and uses a moisture-tolerant primer if needed. If you have water coming in through cracks, that needs fixing before any coating goes down.

Prep is the whole job

Every system starts with diamond grinding to open the concrete, then crack and pit repair. Skipping this step is why many DIY coatings fail within a year or two.

Common questions

Can you coat a basement with cracks in it?

Hairline cracks are filled during prep. Cracks that leak or keep moving should be looked at first.

Is it OK for an outdoor patio?

Covered patios, yes, with a UV-stable topcoat. Fully exposed slabs depend on the slab and drainage.

How long does it take?

Most single rooms are done in one to three days depending on the system.
